A good area to adventure tubing, biking, running, hiking ,fishing wildflowers deer bears are possible . Waterfall loop with 2 are beside a gravel road bed. Farther you go the more a wooded trail it becomes with elevation . Short loops or multi mile in and out options available.
Easy and shaded trails that are well maintained; pay fee (daily $5.00 or use an annual pass) at machines located at the bathrooms. Plenty of parking spaces and trails are well marked to reach the 3 water falls. Nice to have benches installed along the river too. One trail allows for biking and horses. I saw people tubing the river; lots of rocks to deal with though. A great way to keep cool in the summer, and awesome for young children since the river is shallow in the lower section (stress free for parents). Busy place mid day and mid week.
Great place to tube in WNC. The upper section was a little wilder for the big kids while the lower section was perfect for younger kids. Kids are supposed to wear life jackets in the creek and they do charge for parking as this is apart of the Smoky Mountains National Park. We have also come here in the fall and spring to hike beautiful trials and waterfalls.
Good hike. The loop is an uphill climb and a good workout. The walk along the creek is very nice. Lots of people were tubbing down the creek. Overall a nice hike.
Great hiking trail. It's a loop with multiple ways to travel around to see the three waterfalls that are part of this 1.6 mile trek.
I highly recommend this trailhead! A total of 3 waterfalls throughout the hike with beautiful scenic views along the way. We visited during Christmas time so swimming was not an option although I see you can tube during the warmer months. We did pass a fly fisher that reported it was a good area to fish. The hike was fairly easy with some steep areas, ages 15-60 during our hike.
We researched a few different waterfall hikes before taking our trip to this area and planned to check out Deep Creek on day 1. We were happy to hear from some locals in the coffee shop (our first stop) who highly recommended it & this one did NOT disappoint!!
Lots of little waterfalls throughout the hike, beautiful streams along the trail, high and low elevations, with good footing, and well-marked paths. It looks like some of the trails allow horses, though we didn’t see any. They appear to have camping, picnic areas, and more (though we didn't utilize any of that). There were a lot of families in the area the day we hiked, but most of the trails are wide enough that everyone can distance themselves without issue.
This was a great way to start out our weekend and we highly recommend you check it out if you are in the area!
Busy area but not overly crowded. We went on a Sunday and there were lots of people out exploring but it was still enjoyable. There are three falls along the way and lots of beautiful areas to stop and relax and enjoy the scenery. The trail to Juney Whank falls is more moderate with a good uphill climb but it loops around and meets up with the main trail which a more gentle slope.
